Thunderclap is a free tool for posting simultaneous messages from lots of people across multiple social media accounts. Think of it as an online flash mob.

Many organizations and causes have used Thunderclap to amplify their messages across Twitter, Facebook, and Tumblr. Check out these successful campaigns:

#IWasHere

The United Nations, with support from Beyoncé, used Thunderclap to introduce World Humanitarian Day to over a billion people. Download the case study.

#GetCovered

The nonprofit Get Covered America used Thunderclap to remind Americans to sign up for health insurance. Check out the campaign’s landing page.

#WorldToiletDay

The nonprofit WaterAid UK reached almost one million people and more than doubled their Facebook following over the course of their World Toilet Day campaign. Read a blog post about their efforts.

At Firesteel, we test a lot of new media tools as we advocate for an end to homelessness. The purpose of the Spark Change Podcast is to share what we’ve learned, and to help other advocates use these tools. Please let us know what you think of Spark Change so far! Your feedback will help shape future episodes.
